I don't think the number of clicks is the best metric here. If there are hundreds of articles in a category, it takes a long time to skim through the list of them. If you can spend a few extra seconds narrowing down what you're looking for, it can be much faster to find something.
Then that means merging articles wherever possible, and as I suggested before, using the subcategories as filters rather than points of separation. That way we can reduce article clutter while simultaneously avoiding arbitrary separation between different types of software simply because they don't fit the idea of being "Mac" like.
OK, let's take this one small step at a time and see what we've come up with.
Option 1
Mac Hardware - I'm in favour of "Mac Hardware", not just "Hardware". No need to split iPhone/ iPod software apart.

Hmm...I have a feeling both the iPhone and iPhone Pro will be flash-based though. But I think you're right they will both be slider phones. I think the iPhone "slim" phone will basically be like a shorter, wider iPod nano with a slightly larger screen and a slide-out keyboard - so it will be about twice the thickness of a nano. The larger iPhone Pro will be like a narrower iPod, maybe with a portrait screen orientation instead of landscape, and will again have a slide-out keyboard. I expect that the iPhone will have something like 2 GB and the iPhone Pro something like 4 GB or even 8 GB. I would be pleasantly surprised if either of these models had any expandable storage, but I doubt it. I think they will initially launch without expandable storage, and then add it later in the second generation of iPhones...
yeah yeah... thats what i meant.... i just mean the form of the 80gb ipod... an 80gb hd might be a bit overkill... but im just lookng at my ipod sitting on the table next to my treo 650, and the 650 looks so dated... i remember when that seemed so cool, but looking at them side by side they look like different decades... something the same size and design as the ipod 80gb, where at the bottom it slides and exposes a qwerty keyboard... stellar

Skeptical you should be, but these aren't really thermocouples. The same physical principle applies, but thermocouples are really only for temperature measurement. These are thermoelectric coolers. See here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peltier-Seebeck_effect).
If you want to power the temperature change yourself, you need a high current. But if you want to generate electricity from them, then just connect them into a circuit with out any powersupply i.e. stick a fan's power terminals on that, stick one side of the TEC on a hot chip or cup of tea etc. to setup the delta T. (temp difference) then the fan will start spinning!

TECs are moderately efficient at converting electricity into a temperature differential (or being used as a heat pump), but their efficiency in the other mode of operation (Seebeck effect) is very, very low (typ. < 5%). If you take a chip-sized (~ 1 cm^2) TEC, connect it between a hot processor core at 100 C and ambient temperature at 25 C, you will not have enough power to turn a computer fan at any modest speed. Furthermore, even if you could harvest that electricity and store it, the added energy would be less than 0.1% of a typical laptop battery. :rolleyes:

The Xbox 360-2 looks a lot better than the new PS3, although I would rather it have a matte finish so as not to show fingerprints or dust as easily. That being said, the Xbox 360 should have came with wi-fi built in from the get go and not been an add on $80 option. I moved my Elite from the living room to my bedroom just so I could connect it to my AEBS and not have to spend a pretty penny doing it.

Yup. Leaking Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors (http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorola/spectra/spectra-caps/c635+c636.jpg) on the motherboard (sample picture only).
Replace them with Tantalum Electrolytics or disconnect the speaker. If you don't replace the capacitors, eventually they will corrode tracks on the motherboard (if they haven't started already).

I don't buy it; Apple offers the Apple TV for $99 which provides AirPlay. I don't think they'll license out the software; Apple has too many negative experiences with licensing out software... :cool:

If AirPlay were implemented on 50% of the TV's being sold and 50% of the AV receivers, 50% of the DVD players, Sony PlayStation, and Nintendo Wii then even at only $4 per device they could end up making more money than they do with AppleTV and in the end make the living room "simpler" for their customers. They would also boost potential sales and rentals of video from the iTunes store.
Just look at the proliferation of Netflix streaming enabled devices on the market today, there is a lot of money to be made here even if it does end up killing the AppleTV.

I am sure there will be adapters that would convert normal RCA connectors to an ipod dock connector, then you could connect any mp3 player (zune) to the airlines ipod system. But still, more of an inconvenience to a Zune user :)

In the snow areas more damage is done to the roads with thawing and freezing than the cars driving over them. Road salts eat through quicker than cars just driving on them. Sure the cars add to the wear but they are not the only factor. As long as we plow and treat the roads they will need to be repaired quicker regardless of how much traffic there is.

But I agree in theory that we can cut down greatly on how much we drive. And higher gas prices will do that(which is good, even if we don't make as much off taxes as you would if driving levels stay the same)
The new wave of urban living will help too. If people don't have driving as an option because of price, or have it less, interest in public transit but also walking and biking will increase due to natural market pressures. However, many towns and cities in the US will have a major infrastructural gap because they have so many roads that are not cyclist / pedestrian friendly. They will likely change due to economic pressure, but cities investing in walkability now will be well poised to grow when/if such a time comes.

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I want to buy this!!!! But alas I cannot afford it at present, well it depends on if I get a 3DS next weekend or not. But having used the demo of Outlook I love it, much better then Mail IMO.

What is pissing me off at this stage is not that the console launches tomorrow or fears over shortages etc, it's the fact that 95% of the launch titles haven't even made it to review which is never a good sign.
I suspect we are going to see a lot of turkeys tomorrow.
I've seen a few reviews, ONM gave everything like 8 or 9 out of 10 (no surprises there) and everyone else gave everything 6 out of 10 at most. Pilotwings is the most disappointing, as apparently it's less than an hour long...
I see that Joystiq and Gamespot and a few other sites (IGN) are starting to put reviews up too, but I'm not that interested in the launch titles! I want to get back to Okamiden and Pok�mon White!
I think there's plenty of consoles to go around, my order is at "dispatching soon" on Amazon, and other people already have theirs!

Just picked one up in Norwalk CT - they had plenty in stock and the sales person didn't realize the markdown until I mentioned it. Great deal. They tried to sell me a ton of services, but you don't have to... $317 out the door.:)
