Hi,
I just want to know as to will the Green Card process happen faster if the State of GA were to sponsor it?
Request you to reply soon.
Thanks
I have not heard of any specific quota for Govt agencies, maybe they have, can anyone confirm it?
I think there is no specific govt quota, everything goes through the EB process

I was in MI for a long time, so have called them up and have urged them to join IV.
Hopefully they will make the right choice and do the right thing.

Please do not go for stamping if it can be avoided, as embassies are very frequently giving form 221(g) for additional administrative processing which may take few weeks to several months.

Moon mission is quite a technological jump! As per APJ, it all starts from looking into the sky and dreams....imagination, creativity.....
American dream is also lots of ups and downs....
Indians in IT and NASA are products of those dreams....
Nuclear cooperation between India and the US would change energy, infrastructure and development equations fundamentally...
All of the above impact us fundamentally as well.
Why STOP this thread as long as the context is technology, our future and life in 21st century?

This looks like the hallmark of a gang initiation ritual. The teens were probably asked to carry out an act of this nature before the gang would consider them to be tough enough. So they drive around, pick a random person, and beat him up, and the hapless victim ends up dead. Sad and bizarre.

I have applied AP for my family 3 weeks before. My wife needs to go India by end of next month. If AP approval doesn't come to our hand by next month, can she leave the country? If she shouldn't, what are the alternate options? I appreciate your help.
It is not advisable for her to leave the country without AP on hand. It is a risky proposition. Normally USCIS checks internally the resident status of the person and if they come to know that she left the country already, they may say/ consider that she left USA with the intention of abandoning her AOS case and issue denial for her I-485.
PS: You can encourage me to contribute more to the forum by awarding Green points, if you find this post as useful and informative.

You can use your eb3 EAD.
But first to get into EB2 category, you have to first file another separate labor with a different employer (w/same employer it will most likely rejected) and then file 140 separately agian and then once your 140 is approved get it interfiled and then port from eb3 to eb2.

'Masala Dosa' and I met with staff of Senators Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson. The meetings went very well. We had the opportunity to see the compromise announcement on the floor while we were in the office of Senator Martinez. That was a good deal.
We talked about IV, our individual cases, the need for reform and possible amendments the Senators could raise - like parity with agricultural workers (ability to self-sponser greencard), I-485 application even when priority not current, backlog elimination center update and the need to push it through, support for existing immigration reform bill, explained why the hard country limit is bad for Indians, Chinese and Philippinos and urged them to talk about keeping the limit at 10% and yet allowing unused numbers to flow to India and China.
One observation we had was that the staff had no clue what is the difference between H-1B and Greencard processing. So we spent some time educating them about how the quotas are formed, the caps etc ...
We have them all the material mentioned in the IV site for reading. Hopefully the feedback trickles down to the Senators and we get to have some of our amendments. The best part of it whether these amendments come or not is that we made an attempt to explain our problems to Senators.
Overall, it was a fruitful trip, and a well spent day. I will continue to follow up with the Senators office and keep in touch with the staff. 'Masala Dosa' will follow up with staff at his place.
We need to move on to the next step and target who would be on the committee for reconciling House and Senate versions. I am looking forward to folks who are knowledgeable in this matter to come forward and give the info.
Let us make this bill through this time and get our greencards. :D

Is there any minimum length of time to be on H4 before applying to H1.
No. Most people are never on H-4 when they apply for H-1B. The only catch is that it might raise a suspicion if a person entered in H-4 status and immediately filed to change to H-1B, say within a couple of days. A difficult CIS officer might consider that this meant that the person entered by misrepresenting their true intention. However, given that there is a cap and the person couldn't start on H-1B until 10/1 anyway, that should be OK.

The H-2B program is critically important for many businesses that have difficulty finding U.S. workers to fill temporary jobs. This is particularly true in seasonal industries. Comments from H-2B employers attest to the need for foreign workers in physically demanding seasonal jobs, often in remote locations, that many U.S. workers will not take.
The H-2B nonimmigrant visa (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137785.html) program permits employers to hire foreign workers to come to the U.S. and perform temporary nonagricultural work, which may be one-time, seasonal, peak load or intermittent and there are no qualified and willing U.S. workers available for the job. Note that this visa is not available for "temporary" agencies or other work placement agencies.
In order to learn more about employers perceptions of the H-2B program, ImmigrationWorks USA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce conducted a survey: five short questions distributed among H-2B employers in July and August 2010. The survey asked how many H-2B workers the company had hired in the last three years and what types of jobs those workers held. It included two open-ended questions about the benefits of using the program and asked what if any problems employers had experienced.
Another open-ended question asked what employers would do if they were not able to hire H-2B workers. Participation was voluntary, and results could be submitted via email, fax or the internet. A total of 367 employers responded. The majority of H-2B employers who responded to the survey noted that temporary foreign workers are reliable and hard-working. Many also praised these workers productivity: a benefit that offsets the cost of bringing them into the United States. Respondents appreciated that H-2B workers were willing to work seasonal jobs and then return home when the season ended.
Important benefit of the program is that it offers companies a way to hire foreign workers when U.S. labor markets tighten. The program increases labor market flexibility by allowing businesses to bring in foreign workers when U.S. workers move up to better, higher-paying jobs during economic expansions.

Hi,
My employer has initiated my H1 B visa for our client which is a telecom giant. I was denied H1B with the reason that I am a Mechanical Engineer. The document says that as a mechanical engineer I need 6yrs exp. I already have more than 4yrs exp in IT. The thing which wonders me is that, 2 of my engineering classmates got their H1 approved. Is there any clause which says about this. Please help me.
Thanks,
-Anoop
