after installing the EFI update and running software update it said no updates.
So I downloaded it directly and tried to update it. It told me I didn't need it.
Trekkie, since your machine and mine came about the same time, ours should be about the same. I checked in Profiler, and didn't need to update the SMC. Have you seen anything useful in the EFI update?

Cool redeye, thanks for the update! And it's here about the same, the heat that is. Too hot to get some sleep. So, installing the widget at 00:48 CET is the best thing to do! :D And I think it's time to get this baby out of its Beta status and make it version 1.05. Society has decided that racism is something that's not neutral in its effect. It does harm to the individual victims and ultimately all of the community as well. So, society doesn't let you operate a business in a way that's going to damage the community (LOL, in theory anyway)
Are you infringing upon Y's rights? Sure. At the very least you've tried to take away Y's basic rights as a citizen to get on with life.

3.33 ghz i7 6-core is better than a 2.4 ghz 8-core Mac Pro for Logic imo. You want each core to be fast too so none will hit their ceiling.

I agreed with you. The new dual ghz is FAST, but the noise in the hot summer day. I can use my new Powermac as heater in the winter season. :)

I can think of various things in Windows that are easily available - but shouldn't be. Like virtual memory setting, video settings, virtual devices, etc. I - now using computers for 20 years - have made the mistake of deleting the scsi device drivers in Windows. I mean, all my drive were IDE! Right? Wrong. The Scsi drivers were required to run the ATAPI layers which allow various software to read from the CD-drive! This kind of cr$p doesn't happen in osX. Everything that needs to be hidden away is. You can get to it, but you should never ever need to.
OSX is more stable. Not by much anymore, but enough that any serious sys admin would run a server using it rather than windows. That says a lot. OSX is more sophisticated in a number of important ways - you should read about Quartz Extreme (the graphics system). It uses some impressive technology (basically old - yes - similar to unix systems, but far more advanced than anything Windows has to offer).
It has saved my job on more than one occasion - things >work< in osX, even when they're on the edge of the capability of the machine...I've had jobs where the same process just crashed faster windows machines (this was mostly when dealing with large graphic files...).
Despite all this - the reason I love macs is the design. Where can you find cases like them in the pc world?! Not just good looks either - you should play with a power mac case...you can open the entire case to expose the motherboard fully without turning the damn thing off! I would have killed to find a PC case like that when I was repairing computers.
And don't forget the iApps either. Beautiful designed hardware, beautiful designed software. There is no equal to iTunes or iPhoto on windows. There is not. I have paid money for and been through literally hundereds of programs. Nothing can compare.

I never said Word and Excel were bad (I think they are great) -- only that I also think Pages and Numbers and Keynote are great too (especially Keynote). Each has their purpose. Pages is fantastic for creating a single page layout from their templates. Numbers does a rocking job of creating fluffy charts and diagrams for you to copy/paste into other things (it also does a nice job letting you categorize by column).
If I am working with a large data set I prefer Excel or OpenOffice.org depending on which makes it easier to crunch the numbers in my desired way. When I am writing a large document (like a technical specification), again I turn to MS Word or OpenOffice.org, since Pages seems to do better at single page layouts and is less robust when working with large documents. I tend to prefer OpenOffice.org when I need to make sure my documents are portable to others who have not chosen to fork over hundreds of dollars to Microsoft.

My friend had nothing but problems with his G5. The computer was constantly in for repairs and would spew out kernal-panics often. It ended up being a bad memory module, which was undetectable even with an extensive hardware test. The only reason he figure it out, is because he had lowned the additional RAM to a mutual friend while his G5 was in the shop for the last time.

Yes, that might be it. It is the only thing that hasn't been replaced. The Apple memory has been replaced but not the third party RAM, I'll exchange for a new ones.

Excuse me, I was talking about consumer pickup trucks, not large16+ Ton HD shipping trucks.
For smaller American trucks, I see them everywhere, whether it's a landscaper/gardener, construction worker/contractor, auto parts vehicle, city vehicles, fire captain, emergency vehicle, plumber, or a whole host of telecomm/techie workers.
I think there will always be a considerable market for small to medium sized American trucks and maybe the US auto companies should focus mostly on those markets of small to mid-sized trucks (but not larger Isuzu, Mercedes, and Volvo delivery trucks) and also not try and take Honda, Lexus, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Hyundai, Volvo, and Mercedes head on in sedans.
At least around my parts, I rarely see a Toyota, Honda, or Nissan small or mid-sized truck in the occupations listed above. At the same time, consumer sedans are mostly foreign car companies as well as those super large delivery trucks.

Thunderbolt will solve this. TB to Gigabit Ethernet adapter will definitely deliver 1Gb/s (800Mb/s due to 8/10b encoding).
Still, my point stands- you need to purchase another adapter, carry it around, and have it dangle off your computer when a simple internal ethernet port would solve the problem.
They should, at the very least, bundle it with a 1k+ computer (like they used to).

It will be a surprise if they don't name a phone iPhone after getting all those trademarks. They certainly wouldn't save it for another future product while coming out with an Apple-branded phone.
Is there any chance they have another name in mind for their product but got the patents in order to lock up the name to prevent competitors from using it? Personally, I doubt it.
