People seem to be missing that to provide the 3D illusion with this effect it requires an almost constant motion, otherwise it will just resemble a flat image of a 3d surface.
This makes any actual use of this kind of silly, and makes the viewing of 3D videos and images still impossible for the iPad This is because both videos and 3D images (.mpo files) have two images sent to each eye separately which this method of 3D is completely incapable of because it requires fully rendered models for viewing.
A parallax barrier, such as the one on the 3DS, or other legitimate 3D viewing method would be required to have any real use, particularly without forcing the user to constantly move their head or the device that they're holding to maintain the 3D effect.

The base model has a 5660 @ $800.
What base model? I was looking at the 3797$ configuration you linked, which has 1663$ CPU in it..
BTW, X5660 (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=47921) costs 1219$... A config with that is around 3000$.
I have no idea what you are trying to achieve since no matter how much you try to justify it or post false specs and prices, it won't make the SP Mac Pro any better value. It costs a lot more than Dell's equivalent. Period.

The iPhone is groundbreaking don't get me wrong here I am so excited in anticipation for this to be released. On the other hand I was hugely let down by no other interesting releases, including iLife 07'!
What is this iTV nonsense? Microsoft's Xbox 360 has just been announced with a rumored better price per feature model than this thing. Already beaten to the punch Jobs threw this offstage as quickly as possible to actually impress us. Then nothing. No iLife, no new Macbook Pro case design, no official Tablet, no nothing.
Also why only Cingular? I have T-Mobile and they have much better coverage in my area! Bleh now I have to wait 3 years before I can actually use this much heralded tech.

The front of the white iphone looks neat. The back is rather hideous.
Perhaps they should make it white on one side and black on the other.

Oh wow - finally, maybe the iPhone can compete with all the fantastic Android devices for once. I've had the Droid, Droid X, and Droid Pro (for work) and have always said I'd never buy and iPhone for this reason (amongst many others). I can't believe most of the peeps on this post think this is a revolutionary idea. I do love my MacBook Pro, but Mac Sheeple drive me nuts!

I do believe that if the price is right, the current level of compression and resolution will be fine (annoying, but tolerable.). I will still buy Criterion DVDs and shoot to build a library that is not only resident on my PowerBook. I'd really rather see a good film in a theater.
This service will be a boon for people like me, who don't own or watch TV. This is the one time I could see a plan like NetFlix working for Apple. I would pay for a service that allowed me to have well resolved movies that I can only watch once, or that only work for a few weeks or so.

Thankfully there will be. I know for a fact that the public build of Leopard is missing a lot of stuff. Most of it simply isn't finished and so not checked into the main Leopard tree. Some of it is simply not checked in because its not ready to be shown. Anyone with access to RADAR can find this info through some interesting searches.

If you are referring to refugees they total about 6000 a year,not I would have thought much of a problem for Europe's second biggest economy.The myth of spending millions on housing and "their every needs" is just that a myth,of recent migrants 60% live in private rented housing and 18% are owner occupiers.Trying to lay the blame on the people who work hard to build the country up while ignoring the tiny minority who bleed it dry doesn't seem a very enlightened view to me.You're also not the only one who pays taxes.

You know what I would tell Steve Jobs, to shut the <insert> up. Real world testing is different than the professional developer testing they did. It's a huge problem and SJ is trying to downplay it. Well after Consumer Reports denying supporting the product, Apple is in the real <insert>hole with the iPhone 4. I don't know about you guys but I am tired of all of Steve Jobs snide remarks and responses to a huge problem.

Anyhoo... all went very smooth today, despite the earlier issues. Got to the store just before opening (10AM) and was out the door in 20 minutes.
For those keeping count, the employee helping me did tell another customer that their store only received 20 phones. This was in Long Beach, CA.
Sorry to hear that some of us have to wait 'til the next shipment. The stories here can lead one to believe something diabolical, or irresponsible at least, could have been going on in some places. :(
BTW... half of the dozen or so people waiting outside with me, prior to opening, were there to see if there were any iPhones available for those who hadn't preordered. They were quickly turned away once inside.

What does it cost these magazines to digitize an issue each month? Is there a team of 2 people or 20 putting the digital version? All the articles have been written and researched, the photographs and artwork already exist in digital form as well as the layout. What they save on digital issues; no paper, ink or printing costs, no delivery cost or at least a lot less. One thing they loose however is shelf space, how many times have you stopped in a store and thumbed through a magazine because the cover grabbed your eye.

I had a laptop with a magnesium alloy case back in the days before I became a Mac Convert. It was a Sony VAIO 505-TR, and was a very nice light machine. One of the benefits of the magnesium case over the aluminium Powerbook case is the magnesium case never corroded like my 12" PB case has.
I think your iBook has a magnesium frame.
Magnesium tanishes, but I believe it is like aluminum and practically transparent. As for the flammability, you have got to be really trying to ignite it. Your iPod is not just going spontaneously light on fire.
