Could this be the eventual end of usb altogether?No way, USB is cheap and there's no reason to replace them for low bandwidth applications like keyboard, mouse, printers, controllers, etc.

Of course there is. iOS runs on two currently available Apple smartphone models: 3GS and 4. The iOS that runs on these phones is sufficiently different in feature sets from the iOS that runs on Tablets, media consumption devices, and Apple TVs:
-Larger resolution on tablets
-Communications handled separately - No phone app or visual voicemail on Tablet or iPod Touch
-No installable apps on Apple TV
I think you already understand the differences. You just would like to lump everything together so that it seems that Apple still has dominant marketshare.

You are honestly trying to act as if slight hardware and software features and differences make it a completely different platform, regardless of whether or not it has an effect on applications? Seriously? That's like saying Android devices from different manufacturers can't be lumped together because of different resolutions or skins.
EDIT: Also, I was only mentioning that AppleTV technically runs iOS, not that it should be officially be counted.

I have had several friends and family members try Android with several different models, trying so hard to believe it was better then iOS iP4, but finally giving in and now love their iP4s! They all have iPads as well!
A friend in IT was all over his new EVO, saying and trying to show how superior it was to his old iPhone. Within a month or two the EVO was gone, replaced with an iPhone4. Why? He said it was a dead end. While a few things were really nice, it was buggy, there were too few apps, and it was just no fun to use.
Life should be fun, not fraught with glitches and a tool that had no soul.

MBP = 4 years old

And both will be upgraded to Lion. No problems yet , even 1080p content plays well, slight lag to catch up when RWD or FF other than that no problems. :)
mine completely chokes at 1080p unless im real lucky. Again 720p is usually okay, but if the processor is getting a workout, it can struggle.

Looks like ill be going to Android.
Why? You know, arguably the best Android phone out right now (the Nexus S) still basically has the same processor and a lower res screen than the iPhone 4. In fact, I think the iPhone 4 will easily pass the test of time until September, especially if it gets some iOS 5 goodness in the summer.

I've just downloaded the update on mymiPhone and iPad and i noticed in the General Setings now there is a multitouch gestures button to enable this function. It suports 4 fingers up to show the app switcher, 4 fingers to the sides to switch apps and 5 fingers to the centre to go to the home screen.
It works great!

I've been trying to score an iPad2 and now here comes the new ix.Mac.MarketingName, which sounds awesome! So between this and iPad2, ATV2, Air, MBP, iPhone, Mac Pro, Nano and iMac, what should I get?
Mostly I would use this for web surfing and light photo editing, but it also needs to dry laundry and serve as daily transportation for my 8 mile commute. But, I'm worried the new ix.Mac.MarketingName requires Z-rated tires, which are quite expensive. I'm also curious whether, with the right apps, the ix.Mac.MarketingName can serve as a prophylactic or if it's better to have a dedicated device for that.

one thing i am very pleased about is that the stock 17" has all the specs i need (i will get more RAM elsewhere, not from apple, and not yet) 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 2.33 C2D so now i do not have to CTO from apple, i can just go buy it in store.
the only things i wish for more of would be a higher-end video card and easy access HD bay. other than that i am pleased.

I don't know if this is relevant but the shipping on the basic models say 24 hours but when I select the quad i7 option the shipping extends to 3 days.. When I selected the quad i7 option last night it said shipping only 2 days.. so it has changed by + 1 day :confused::rolleyes:
